Saw this interval workout on Active.com. Have no idea why I hadn’t thought of doing something like this…

Bunny Day

Today was the curmudgeon first Easter. Grandma couldn’t get him candy, so he got a Tonka trunk instead. Nice. We got Metallica tickets for MSG this weekend. Great. I’m tired, if you can’t tell. I just finished up the work I was supposed to get done on Friday afternoon.

Some quick Easter highlights. Prepared and consumed a turducken. So worth it, you must try one. We over cooked it slightly, but not a deal breaker at all. Got the breast from Cajun Specialty Meats, the breast only, not the whole birds. Lit the green bean casserole on fire. Full fledged fire too, not some blackening going on. We were a couple of seconds away from testing out the fire extinguisher. All-in-all this was a very successful first Easter for us, hosting, and for our little man. Didn’t take any pictures, too busy cooking, today. We’ll see what we can get off of other people’s cameras.

Christmas

With b sick as a dog (102.6 fever), it was amazing that she was able to muscle through all of it. Presents were opened in the morning. I got all of the running gear you could possibly imagine. The long awaited headband, the blinky light for night running, lots of under-armor, a runner-id and some running shirts. Sah-weet! b got some new gym shoes, a new small camera, a all-in-one baby food maker (we make all of curmudgeon’s food in-house) and a massage.

Watching curmudgeon open presents was priceless. Like a little actor, he needed motivation. And with a teething kid, it’s easy. “Can I put that in my mouth?” So while he’s trying to munch on the wrapping paper, you just twist the present. That was easy!

Dinner ran late. We had a Honey-Baked Ham. Yum! It was a little on the salty side, but it’s Christmas. Excess, remember? It was also sooo very easy, and this Christmas, that’s what we needed.

Christmas night was hosted at the homestead as well. It was Mexican fiesta night! You saw correctly! Tortilla chips, mucho salsa, bean borritos, taco dip and HOT taco dip, and tacos. It was awesomely different (I love mexican food). If b wasn’t so sick she was going to get a Christmas pinata, sombreros and some moustaches for everybody. My wife is sick <- pun intended.

Since b was busy, I got to feed curmudgeon, although I could have easily blame this on the Godfather. The holiday did nothing to curb b and I from keeping the little man on schedule. We know what happens when we deviate and it’s something we try to avoid.

Mom stayed in the kitchen with me and cleaned up like a champ <- godsend. I was on my way to stuffy-nasty-not-feeling-good and needed all of the help I could get. With b and curmudgeon in bed early, all of their gifts went unopened, and I failed miserably in givng out gifts out, forgetting gifts for three people! I suck. Thankfully, it’s the season of forgiveness.

Christmas Eve

This day started with an Italian and ended with a cowboy (thanks Jeff).

Despite our best efforts, given the current economy, we were unable to express our Christmas with anything but excess. Christmas Eve started with our usual trip to Dominick’s. We left Milford around 9am and arrived on Arthur Ave a bit after 10am. In and out - no lines – and we were on our way back to CT by 10:30am. See if I can remember that (maybe I can reference it) next year.

Back at the house, it was our most disorganized event to date. b was sick and I was on my way to sick. It was also the first time we did something like this since the Curmudgeon was born. Somehow, with help from the fam, we were able to pull it off. Round 1, ding!

Whimsical winner was “The Light Crystal”. It’s so obnoxious I’m not even going to photograph it. I thought the poop library gift was better, but oh well, there’s always next year. Our Christmas Eve ended with a Burbon tasting (then the cowboy — Jeff on Judy). The Jack Daniels Single Barrel was far smoother than the Woodriff’s (I’m not getting up to look at the bottle) and the Knob Creek. Good thing I did all my wrapping early this year!

Carvel Gone Right

Happy birthday to the dude in a funny red (or so he thinks) shirt. This special occassion marks the first time Carvel refused to write something obscene on a ice-cream cake for us. A week or so after a family tried to get their child’s name, Adolf Hitler, on a birthday cake, we were turned down from Carvel for something innocent.

“Mommy, I learned how to spell Frank today”, Julia said to her mom one day. Apparently she had seen it written on the back of a seat on her school bus. ”F-you-see-kay, Frank!” Thumbs down for Carvel’s sudden change of heart, thumbs up for the birthday boy.

What It’s All About

Brandon’s first Christmas tree. Crazy. He’s all, “Let me touch that green spikey thing. Okay, great! Let me pull it down. Uh oh, mommy caught us.” Wait until we decorate it! Then again, you never know with him. All of the toys and what amuses him the most right now? A Perrier bottle. It’s a fluid rattle, a noise maker and jack-in-the-box all in one. The jack-in-the-box is the best… shake the bottle up a bit and quickly take the top off so the gas dispenses with a pppsssssttt. That’s far more amusing than I thought it could be.

Ran for the first time with an iPod today. It was great until my ears started to fill with sweat. The ear buds worked like little corks, pooling the sweat in my ears, nice. The damn cord was challenge too. All of the bouncing pulled on the ear buds gradually out of my ears, releasing the small pool of sweat onto my earlobes. And that damn leather iPod holder that wrapped around my arm caused some major problems, rubbing the back of my armpit raw. Was a quick 5.5 miles though. Listening to Death Magnetic made the time fly, kept me going too.

Prunes, Prunes, Good for Your…

Apparently we love prunes! Curmudgeon. So much so that we force our face on the spoon, sometimes jamming into the back of our throats. And guess what, they work. They say breast milk is a natural laxitive, but prunes seem to work better.

Christmas is rapidly approaching and I’m remembering how impossible it is to shop for my wife. I wish I could afford to buy her a Caddy. That would make shopping much easier. Can’t wait to go tree shopping this weekend and decorate. The curmudgeon will love the tree, festive little bugger.

Totally off the subject, “they” say that Curmudgeon looks just like Daddy. Look at the faces here! I think there’s some Mommy in him, don’t you?

Happy-Fun-Day

Today was daddy’s happy-fun-day with his little curmudgeon. We had a blast practicing sitting-up, playing piano, reminiscing about the boob while eating his little monkey, figuring out that it was funny when he made daddy laugh. We’re on pears now and they come out, well, like pears. We got really grumpy in the early evening, we missed mommy.

Santa

Curmudgeon’s first Santa experience was a total success at the Generous Elastics Christmas party. Ran into the usual suspect suspects at the rink =D We ended up timing it perfectly, showing up just as the ice show started, no line for Santa. Curmudgeon got a glow worm. They’ve shrunk considerably since b and I had glow worms. They’re made in China too, so I’m wondering if that glow is due to radiation or if the batteries were actuallt included.
